Facial rolling has existed for centuries in Chinese culture and is believed to have been used by Empress Dowager Cixi (of the late Qing dynasty) in her beauty routine.

The Nurtured Heart Duo Stone Radiance Roller features a large ‘spiked’ Red Jasper head, large smooth Rose Quartz head and White Jade wand. These gemstones are personal favourites, but I also chose them because of their specific affinities and relationship with the Five Elements.

Red Jasper has a strong connection to the Fire Element and the heart, triple heater and pericardium meridians. It helps to support the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the heart/blood and calms the ‘Shen,’ translated as spirit. It is believed to be soothing for the mind and may benefit skin types with high colouring.

My go-to tool for getting skin glowing when I’m tight on time. The spiked Red Jasper roller head can be used to invigorate and energise the skin quickly, or in combination with a Gua Sha for additional benefits. I love the spiked head for targeting smile lines around the eyes and ‘11’s’ between the brows. The lightly etched troughs of the spiked head increase blood and Qi flow to the skin tissues and encourages improved skin texture.

The smooth Rose Quartz roller head supports lymphatic drainage. Apply skincare products before rolling to increase penetration. I recommend a facial mist followed by a facial oil or balm.The spiked Red Jasper roller head is highly polished and purposefully smoothed to provide invigoration whilst being gentle for sensitive skin or skin with high colouring. The Yellow Jade spiked head of the Nourished Earth Roller offers more engagement with the skin tissues.
